Boston Accents is the local music program on 101.7 WFNX, featuring artists based in Boston and and its surrounding towns and states. Formerly known as New England Product, Boston Accents is hosted by Boston Phoenix music editor Michael Marotta and can be heard Sunday evenings from 8 to 10pm both on the FM dial or streaming online at wfnx.com

In addition to his dual role with the Phoenix Media Communications Company, Marotta is also resident DJ, promoter, and operations director of the Pill, one of the North America’s longest-running indie dance parties. Every Friday at Great Scott in Allston, Marotta spins an eclectic mix of Britpop, modern indie and electro while also booking national and local artists (from Passion Pit to Class Actress to Dom to Cold Cave) that keeps the Pill regarded as one of the most cutting-edge and consistent weekly indie dance parties in the world.
In September of last year, Marotta launched Vanya Records, an independent digital and vinyl record label based out of his Allston, Mass., residence. His meticulously handpicked roster includes rising psychedelic rock band The New Highway Hymnal, internationally recognized solo electronic artist Andre Obin, and veteran dance-pop quartet Bearstronaut. Despite being merely five months old, Marotta’s Vanya Records will host its first SXSW party in Austin, Texas, on March 16.
