New England Product: The week in local rock
Hello hello, New England Product friends. I missed you all last week, but my absence/lack of blog was justified by the fact that I was pulling double duty at events. While Dave Duncan held down the NEP fort, I (his partner in crime Jillian) went over to The Roxy complex to check out some of the 2008 Boston Music Awards. I wasn't able to stay for the entire night, but I did get to see Girls Guns & Glory perform. They were awesome as usual and picked up a few awards later on in the evening. For the complete list of winners, head over to Boston.com.. After the BMAs, I scurried over to The Orpheum for night two of the WFNX Miracle on Tremont St., just in time to catch Vampire Weekend. Both nights of Miracle on Tremont were great and tons of fun, and I'll try to get some pictures posted soon to the NEP Myspace.
This week is another totally packed week in local music. In between waiting in line at the mall and sipping eggnog, you should warm your buns by shaking them at one of these shows:
Tues. 12/16
Great Scott: The Ice Cream Social - 50s & 60s dance party w/The Leftovers, Chris Devlin (Spank Rock/BBC Soundsystem), E-Marce . (The last Ice Cream Social was one of the most fun parties I've been to recently. Plus, there will be ice cream.)
Wed., 12/17
TT the Bears: Vivian Darkbloom, Sunsets Quick, Forsythe
The Paradise: The Boston Comedy Festival w/special guests Campaign For Real-Time.
Thurs., 12/18
Great Scott: The Scrooges, Slim Jim And The Madcows, The Night Prowlers, DJ Ken Cmar
Fri., 12/19
Great Scott: The Pill w/special guests Barnicle. (This is also Michael from The Pill's b-day party!)
Church: Cassavettes, Age Rings, Rogue Heroes
The Lizard Lounge: The Great Bandini, Jake Brennan
Sat., 12/20
The Lizard Lounge: Girls Guns & Glory holiday extravaganza w/Township, Ryan Fitzsimmons, Sarah Blacker
Great Scott: Harris, Faces on Film, Helms, The Hangman's Alphabet
Sun., 12/21
Great Scott: Hallelujah the Hills, Aloud, Ad Frank, Sarah Rabdau & The Self Employed Assassins
That about wraps up the week... which reminds me, I should probably wrap some presents and stick them under my little Charlie Brown Christmas Tree (or Holiday Shrub, if you want to be politically correct.)
Stay warm till next Sunday!
xoxo
Jillian
