FNX FILES [MONDAY - 1/14]
Despite a scaled back awards ceremony that amounted to a press conference where winners were announced, the Golden Globe Awards were still handed out on Sunday night. Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder was given his first Globe in the category of Best Original Song for his solo tune, "Guaranteed," from the movie Into The Wild. Vedder also earned a Best Original Score nomination for the film, but Dario Marianelli beat him for Atonement. Though it was Vedder's first win, it was not his first nomination. "Man Of The Hour," a Pearl Jam song from the Tim Burton film Big Fish, was nominated in 2003, but lost to Annie Lennox.
Elsewhere, Cate Blanchett won Best Supporting Actress In a Motion Picture for her gender-bending role as one of Bob Dylan's alter egos in I'm Not There.
In other Eddie Vedder news, a limited-edition vinyl version of the Into The Wild soundtrack is being made available to Pearl Jam fan club members starting today (1/14). The vinyl release includes an extended version of the album track "The Wolf," a bonus 7-inch single with both studio and live versions of the track "No More," a 28-page booklet with lyrics and exclusive liner notes by director Sean Penn. Into The Wild will get its traditional wide release on vinyl on January 29.
