It's always a good idea to physically leave the party if you're going to leave.

One time a friend of passed out cold, we couldn't wake him from his slumber, he was snoring so loud that we plugged up his nostrils with Fluffernutter just to diminish the sound, but that didn't work, he became slack jawed and the noise coming out of his mouth was worse, so we duct taped his chin to his nose, then we got out the Sharpies and doodled all over his face. As if that wasn't enough to satisfy the hanger oners we undressed him and put him in a girls bra and panties. We took pictures of course. To this day he shivers at the sight of duct tape and is the first to leave a party.

I almost always insist on shutting it down, can't help but hang around waiting for something exciting to happen but more often than not the result is ridiculous hangovers and lost cell phones

I dated the "keep the party going" guy and it fucking sucked. If even just ONE person still had a beer in their hand at some ridiculous hour, he would insist on trying to hang......and he never could. It was the worst.
