LOON MOUNTAIN, NEW HAMPSHIRE
New Englanders are familiar with Sherman Adams, known not only for making his vision of Loon come true, but also as the former New Hampshire governor and later Chief of Staff to President Eisenhower. Sherman enlisted former Olympic skier and fellow Dartmouth grad, Sel Hannah, as an expert advisor to make Loon the resort destination is has evolved to today. Loon virtually doubled in size during the 1980’s with more novice and intermediate terrain in the West Basin, along with additional expert trails on North Peak. Loon has become a prosperous year-round resort, with interchangeable lift ticket programs with sister resorts, Waterville Valley and Cranmore.
